Yahweh said to Moses in Mount Sinai,  “Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a Sabbath to Yahweh.  You shall sow your field six years, and you shall prune your vineyard six years, and gather in its fruits;  but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to Yahweh. You shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.  What grows of itself in your harvest you shall not reap, and you shall not gather the grapes of your undressed vine. It shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.  The Sabbath of the land shall be for food for you; for yourself, for your servant, for your maid, for your hired servant, and for your stranger, who lives as a foreigner with you. For your livestock also, and for the animals that are in your land, shall all its increase be for food. Leviticus 25:1-7

Then the land will enjoy its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths. As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, even the rest which it didn’t have in your Sabbaths, when you lived on it.  Leviticus 26:34,35

All the vessels of God’s house, great and small, and the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon. They burned God’s house, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all of its valuable vessels. He carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Babylon, and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia, to fulfill Yahweh’s word by Jeremiah’s mouth, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths. As long as it lay desolate, it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.   2 Chronicles 36:18-21  Daniel 1

“It will happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,” says Yahweh, “for their iniquity. I will make the land of the Chaldeans desolate forever.   Jeremiah 25:12

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: “Don’t let your prophets who are among you and your diviners deceive you. Don’t listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed. For they prophesy falsely to you in my name. I have not sent them,” says Yahweh. For Yahweh says, “After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” says Yahweh, “and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you, says Yahweh. I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.”   Jeremiah 29:8-14

This was fulfilled during the Babylonish captivity. For, from Saul to the captivity are about 490 years, during which period there were 70 sabbaths of years neglected by the Hebrews. Now the Babyl490onish captivity lasted 70 years, and during that time the land of Israel rested.

In Daniel 9, Daniel is given another 490 year prophecy. (Seventy weeks = 490 years).  It begins with the command to restore Jerusalem, marking the end of the Babylonish captivity and continues to the time of Jesus Christ.  In the final week (7 years), Jesus begins his ministry (27AD), causes the sacrifice to cease by his death on the cross in the middle of the week (31AD), and ends with the Jewish nation rejecting the testimony of Stephen (34AD).

This seventy week prophecy “cut off from” or part of the larger prophecy–the2300 2300th Day Prophecy that Daniel was praying about in Daniel 8. This prophecy is about God’s Sanctuary in heaven. The 2300th Day Prophecy is counting Day’s of Atonement, this is the Day the Sanctuary is cleansed from sin.  The 2300th Day Prophecy begins at the Command to restore the sanctuary in Jerusalem and continues 2300th Day’s of Atonement to October 22, 1844.  On this Day of Atonement, Jesus moved into the Most Holy Place to begin the work of the final phase of the calendar year.   Who will make up the number of HIS people?  Who will stand in their lot?  Who will be called HIS own?
